The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a specialised Disaster Recovery team, delivering high-quality engineering solutions for transport infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in technical design and project management, with a strong track record in disaster recovery work being highly desirable. Projects are primarily located in Queensland, with a significant focus on Southeast Queensland.

This role offers a dynamic blend of responsibilities, including site inspections, design delivery, project management, and client engagement. Based at the head office on the Gold Coast, you will lead damage assessments, produce high-quality technical documentation, and manage client relationships to ensure the successful delivery of disaster recovery initiatives.

Key Accountabilities: 

Site Work

  • Lead site inspections to assess and document damage, such as potholes, pavement failures, and slips.
  • Use the TMR RADAR platform (training provided) to photograph, collate, and manage detailed damage records.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical and environmental teams to assess and confirm damage eligibility.

Design and Documentation

  • Manage the preparation of DRFA submissions, including damage assessments, high-level estimates, and treatment plans.
  • Oversee the production of civil design documents, including specifications, Bills of Quantities, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of accurate and comprehensive Damage Assessment Matrices (DAM).
  • Lead the technical aspects of projects, with a focus on disaster recovery.
  • Lead a small team of engineers and drafters to deliver disaster recovery projects.

Project and Client Management

  • Engage with clients and TMR representatives throughout project delivery to address scope changes, eligibility criteria, and construction-phase support.
  • Respond to RFIs, attend external meetings, and provide leadership in discussions around program delivery.
  • Ensure quality control across submissions and deliverables while supporting the broader project team.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. 
  • 10 years minimum professional experience with part of that being in disaster recovery, damage assessment, and civil design.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) required.
  • Demonstrated experience with DRFA projects, including eligibility reviews and funding submissions.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating with different stakeholders such as clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing and producing contract documents to TMR specifications, as well as experience with state authority and council projects favoured.
